Education

The institutions of the GandhiServe network execute such educational projects which propagate peace, the ethics of nonviolence, and the memory of Mahatma Gandhi and his teachings. Time based and with suitable media we endeavour to encourage children, adolescents and adults to deal with the importance of Gandhi's life and work for the present time. Thus, the aim is the dismantling of religious and cultural prejudices as well as a better understanding of one's own and other cultures.

Occasionally, competitions relating to Gandhi, peace and nonviolence are conducted in educational institutions.

Exhibitions on the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi are hold globally which aim to inspire the study of Gandhi's life.

Research

In collaboration with Gandhis collaborators and contemporaries, important documents, photographs and films from Gandhi's life are being saved from decay and made available worldwide for research, exhibitions and publications. In an interdisciplinary project, Gandhi scholars, historians, photo experts and graphic designers joined hands in order to turn black and white photographs into colour images, thus making them true documents of history. Over 4.500 photographs of Mahatma Gandhi got colourised by skilled Indian hands as per the historic settings.

Moreover, the person Gandhi, his environment and the Indian independence movement has been audio-visually documented in talks with contemporary witnesses in an oral history project.
