Peter Rühe meets Indian prime minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh

BERLIN - During his visit to Germany Indian prime minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, had a meeting with a select group of Indologists and Friends of India on 24th April 2006 at Hotel Adlon, Berlin. The meeting lasted for an hour and was an excellent opportunity to discuss the state of Indology in Germany as well as future cooperations in the academic field and in arts.

In a personal discussion with founder-chairperson of the GandhiServe Foundation, Peter Rühe, Dr. Singh stressed the need for a closer cooperation and exchange for the promotion of the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi, resp. the ethics of nonviolence. Especially the current Indian productions in the area of performing arts, films and exhibitions should have a greater exposure outside India. The meeting concluded with the hope of presenting some of the major productions on Gandhi in Germany in the near future.
